RTB’s 13th Jalinan Kasih

20 April 2021 – As part of the 13th edition of Jalinan Kasih project, Radio Brunei Services together with Radisson Hotel Brunei organized the breaking of fast gathering for 20 child cancer patients from the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA). The function took place at the Mutiara Ballroom of Radisson Hotel Brunei in the capital. Present at the event were Haji Azman bin Haji Abdul Rahim, Acting Director of Radio Television Brunei, Miriam Wobler, General Manager of Radison Hotel Brunei and Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar, Progresif Sendirian Berhad Chief
Executive Officer who also handed over Hari Raya green packets, goodie bags and vouchers to the children.

Also at the event, YASKA received cash contributions amounting to one thousand dollars by Progresif Sendirian Berhad. It was handed over by Progresif Chief Executive Officer to Haji Suffian bin Haji Zainal Abidin, President of YASKA.

RTB Acting Director in his speech expressed appreciation to the Management of Radisson Hotel Brunei as the strategic partner for the hosting the breaking of fast gathering for the children. Haji Azman bin Haji Abdul Rahim also highlighted that Radio Television Brunei will continue to approach the society, at all levels and backgrounds through the Jalinan Kasih project organised by the five Radio Brunei Services. Since it was first organised in 2009, the project became a social responsibility, derived from the attention and care, given towards those requiring aid. The project is able to better approach those requiring aid, in particular orphans, senior citizens, people with special needs, new converts and the less fortunate. According to the Acting Director, the effort is also in line with the department’s desires, to make a radio community and uphold the government’s hopes, in establishing a culture of a loving, attentive and caring community towards them. The project is also able to foster close cooperation, with a number of agencies involved. Indirectly, the Jalinan Kasih project is able to act as a bridge in connecting the department with the society that requires aid and attention. The encouraging response from the public has inspired the staff to continue with the programme and the private sector has been very supportive in providing the assistance to those in need. It is hoped the contributions could help alleviate the burden faced by the recipients and cheer them up, especially in their preparation for the upcoming month of Syawal.

The children were feted to a sumptuous Ramadan Buffet Dinner with their families. The highlight of the buffet was Radisson’s signature ‘Whole Roasted Lamb’ served only during the fasting month. The public can call 2244272 to make reservations.
