Muara Maritime Services (MMS), Progresif Sdn Bhd and SMARTER Brunei celebrated a significant collaboration with a formal handover ceremony on 23rd January 2024, Monday, marking the successful implementation of enhanced internet connectivity for the benefit of the students and teachers at
SMARTER Brunei.

Present at the ceremony yesterday was Tuan Haji Mohamed Zainol Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Ja’afar, Commercial Managing Director of Muara Maritime Services, Puan Hjh Nurul Haniah Haji Jaafar, CEO of Progresif and Puan Sharifah Adila Surya Binti Malai Hj Abdullah, Vice President/CEO of SMARTER Brunei along with management and team from respective stakeholders.

MMS has partnered with Progresif in supporting the "Adopt a School" initiative through Progresif’s Phase 2 of the Donate Data campaign. This strategic partnership, aimed at supporting SMARTER Brunei, a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding individuals with autism, focuses on elevating digital infrastructure and connectivity capabilities. This partnership exemplifies the collective responsibility of MMS and Progresif towards the community. Both
companies are dedicated to utilizing their resources and expertise to make a positive impact and contribute to the development of a digitally inclusive society.

MMS has generously sponsored a year-long Wi-Fi Connectivity service provided by Progresif Sdn Bhd to SMARTER Brunei. This sponsorship specifically benefits the SMARTER E.D.G.E Centre located at Kampong Mata-Mata and aimed at enhancing and improving the learning skills of the children attending the center.

Recognizing that children often thrive as visual learners, this initiative acknowledges that digital enhancement and exploration are relatively significant for students, to elevate their learning experience and streamline their activities at school.

“The Donate Data Campaign stands as a cornerstone of our dedication to equipping the digital learning community with essential online resources, particularly Wi-Fi connectivity, to support quality education aligned with Brunei’s Wawasan 2035 vision. Taking this commitment, a step further, we introduced "Adopt a School" in 2021, inviting reputable companies, like MMS, to sponsor a school and contribute to the enhancement of our local education system”, said Puan Hjh Nurul Haniah Haji Jaafar, CEO of Progresif.

“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to MMS for their generous support towards this initiative. We would also like to express our appreciation for the Ministry of Education's unwavering support towards the Donate Data campaign. Their contributions play a vital role in making this campaign successful and impactful, ensuring that essential resources reach those in need. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in our community.”

The "Adopt a School" campaign is an initiative focused on sponsoring internet connectivity, facilitated by stakeholders in Brunei. The selection of schools is predetermined and listed by the Ministry of Education, streamlining the process for stakeholders to make meaningful contributions to the enhancement of internet resources in education.

Meanwhile, “Adopt a School” campaign Phase 1 of Donate Data campaign was launched in 2021, championed by Ministry of Education, where the core objective of this campaign was to support online learning and enhanced digital lifestyle for students and teachers across the nation. The concept in the
Phase 1 initiatives were contribution of donation from the public through SMS which were then converted into data value, sponsored to schools selected by the MOE.
