Innovating Human Capital Development

7th February 2021 - The first ever collaboration between Grominda Sdn. Bhd. and Perspective Insan Academy brings a Human Capital Summit with interests in Human Capital Development and Human Resources in Brunei. The event, held on 6th February 2021 at Main Auditorium, D&T Building, gathered participants in the HR industry and those with interests in HR. This event was created to provide an opportunity for Bruneians and residents to discuss the Human Capital Development in Brunei. The aim for “INITIATE” is to benefit the Human Capital Development in Brunei. This Summit is intended to establish the Human Resources (HR) practitioners’ network in Brunei, promote self-competency through hard and soft skills and to discover the best HR practices from Industry experts.

The Summit started with Welcoming Remarks from the Co-Chairperson, Aiman Minorhadi (CEO of Grominda Sdn. Bhd.), and Speech by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, as Chairman of Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC). The Summit then proceeded with appreciations to INITIATE’s Sponsors: BIBD, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and Progresif Sdn. Bhd.

Among the attendees were Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy bin Ahmad (Member of Legislative Council, and CEO & Lead Trainer of Perspective Insan Academy), representatives from INITIATE’s Strategic, Venue and Media Partners from MPEC, DARe and BizBrunei. Also in attendance were participants from government sectors, including students, and private companies.

The Summit continued with the Plenary Forum, moderated by Anthony Sigar of Grominda, which includes Marzalenie Haji Omar from Manpower Planning and Employment Council, Hajah Zainab M.A. Omar from Brunei Shell Petroleum, Dr. Rozaidah from UBD-School of Business and Economics, Haji Muhammad Saufi Haji Jamahat from DotRoot Sdn. Bhd. and Lim Chui Hian from BIBD as panelists.

Following the Plenary Forum, the participants attended a Networking Lunch session with mentors from Brunei Mentors for Entrepreneurs Network (BMEN) and Brunei Human Resource Society. During the Networking Lunch session, the participants had the opportunity to network with other HRs from different industries.

The Summit then continued with Learning Best Practices Workshops in the afternoon session. The Workshops (schedule attached) were divided into three (3) and the topics of discussions consist of “Human Resources Management Systems”, “Human Resources Development”, and “Human Resources Future”.

The Facilitators for the “Human Resources Development” were Nor Azarina Haji Moksin from Civil Service Institute (or Institut Perkhidmatan Awam), Siti Nabilah Haji Abu Nipah and Muhammad Burhanuddin Nazamsah from Lifelong Learning Centre, MOE, Lailatul Zubaidah Hussain from Damai Mediation, and Felicity Chan from Industry Business Academy.
