Concept I have incorporated a hint of surrealism into the packet by producing a design where the red lanterns float around the tiger on top of a running water background. Additionally, the light colour of the pupils intends to make the tiger look like a magical creature.

Concept Since achieving my BAHons in Creative Expressive Therapies at University of Derby (2018) and I have been working with children with special needs and learning difficulties. Seeing my art as a way to spread awareness on a range of issues, my principal passion lies in depicting nature. The illustrations in my packets reflect this love of the natural world by displaying the tiger’s face and its majestic pose, with accents to reflect waves of water and water lilies floating in the ripples. The deep red colour reflects the Chinese symbolism as the colour of happiness and prosperity, and the tiger’s teal and magenta are Progresif’s corporate colours.

Concept My illustrations are inspired by minimalism and modern colors. For the 2022 Chinese New Year packet, I have input several features which symbolize Chinese culture, such as the Chinese traditional dress (cheongsam), the hand fans, and the Chinese temple. The deep magenta colour is inspired by Progresif’s corporate colour.

Concept As a children’s book illustrator, I’ve applied a storytelling concept in the design done in ‘pencil sketch’ style. The illustration tells of a tiger that wants to change his future. To do so, he must travel and be fully aware that hardships will forever stand in his path, however knowing that the journey and efforts spent are worthwhile. This relates with the symbols of ‘Strength, Boldness and Optimism’. The colouring schemes are blue and yellow, which is based on the 2022 Chinese New Year lucky colours. Blue prominently being used is to align with the 2022 Chinese New Year Zodiac, Water Tiger.

Concept
After the nation’s courageous stance against the pandemic, the Year of the Water Tiger shall bring strength, boldness, and positive energy to the community. The abundance of peonies, the king of flowers, signifies prosperity and care in the coming months. These qualities are represented by the vibrant colours on the red packet. As the tiger approaches, ready to pounce, ask yourself “what comes next?”
