Last August, Progresif donated 350 sim cards to students in need, to support their online learning as a result of schooling from home. This was made possible through the donations received since the launch of Donate Data Campaign, which was initially meant to help students in selected schools to gain access to online resources. Since then, both Progresif and Ministry of Education have been working towards a new target of raising a total of 14,000GB equivalent to BND 42,000 to cater towards e-learning.
The Donate Data initiative is part of ‘Progresif for Schools’ CSR Program, a program initiated by Progresif in collaboration with the Ministry of Education that was established in September last year.
The aim of the initiative is to give access to online learning resources within the selected schools by giving them internet access to be used for elearning. Since its launch in February 2021, donations received have amounted to BND42,230.84 as of 04th November 2021, equivalent to 14,076.94GB worth of data to be used for over 2000 students nationwide.
With the continued efforts to support students and their accessibility to online learning, the funds collected through Donate Data is currently used to sustain these students’ education to ensure equal education opportunities. Due to the ongoing need for data, Progresif has also been looking for more ways to build the fund and have also approached local companies and have teamed up with Community For Brunei and Big BWN Projects with the aim of building more awareness on the program and building the donation pool.
The donation platform can be done via Progresif SMS, BIBD bank transfer and Baiduri Bank transfer. Recently, members of the public can also donate through Progresif Web store, and through Community For Brunei Website to encourage people to donate and make an impact. Progresif Subscribers are encouraged to donate via SMS, simply by typing DATAEDU 1/5/10/15/20/50/100 and send to 38222.
“It has been very encouraging, seeing the support from the community and their contribution will make a big difference to serve our nation’s youth in their education and their future,” said Progresif’s CSR and Sponsorship representative, Amilin Mat Sah. Progresif would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their generous contributions and to the companies/organisations D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd, Audley Insurance Sdn Bhd, Futurebrands Events, The Sweet Spot, Seameo Voctech, Big BWN Project, CS Service Centre, CfBT Brunei and Takaful Brunei Darussalam Sdn Bhd for their support and contribution in this initiative.
